How it is calculated

Usable dimensions subtract two edge margins. Columns = floor((usable width + gap) / (piece width + gap)); rows use the corresponding heights. Compare both uniform orientations when rotation is allowed.

Worked example

An A4 sheet measuring 210 × 297 mm fits a 3 × 3 grid of 70 × 99 mm pieces without margins or gaps, giving nine pieces.

Before you calculate

Use the actual sheet size and the complete piece dimensions. The margin applies on both sides of each axis. Gaps apply between adjacent pieces, not around the outside. Enable rotation only when the artwork or material permits it.

Interpreting the result

The result describes a uniform grid, not mixed-orientation nesting or a printable template. Printer non-printable areas, cut tolerance and registration marks may need larger margins. Verify a real-size test before a production run.

Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
