How it is calculated
Net length = perimeter − excluded openings. Purchase length = net length × (1 + allowance/100). Boards = ceiling(purchase length / stock length).
Worked example
An 18 m perimeter minus a 1 m doorway leaves 17 m. Adding 10% gives 18.7 m; eight 2.4 m boards provide the required nominal length.
Before you calculate
Measure the wall runs where skirting will actually be installed. Exclude openings only where no board is needed. Use the supplier's actual usable stock length and choose a reserve consistent with the room layout.
Interpreting the result
Total-length rounding does not guarantee a feasible cutting plan. Corners, mitres, scarf joints and short offcuts may increase waste. Check each wall run and the desired joint positions before ordering or cutting.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
