How it is calculated
Order result = net revenue − total entered costs. Margin (%) = result / net revenue × 100 when revenue is positive. With zero revenue, margin is omitted.
Worked example
EUR 100 net revenue less EUR 60 product cost, EUR 8 delivery, EUR 2 packaging and EUR 5 commission gives EUR 25 result and a 25% sales margin.
Before you calculate
Use revenue already adjusted for relevant discounts and refunds. Enter each cost once and keep a consistent tax basis. Distinguish costs charged to the customer from expenses you actually incur rather than assuming they cancel automatically.
Interpreting the result
The result can be negative and is not accounting profit after tax. Shared overhead, returns and other costs are included only if entered. A zero-revenue order has no meaningful percentage margin in this model.
Use the units shown beside each field. Monetary fields labelled EUR stay in euros; changing language does not exchange currencies. Results are estimates under the stated assumptions.
