How it is calculated
Slats = ceiling((wall width + gap) / (slat width + gap)). Cuts per stock piece = floor(stock length / installed height). Round stock-piece quantities up.
Worked example
A 200 cm-wide wall covered with 10 cm slats and no gaps needs twenty slats. At a 240 cm wall and stock height, each stock piece provides one slat.
Before you calculate
Use the visible slat width and the intended clear gap. The wall height is the cut length of every installed piece. This model does not join short stock lengths to form a full-height slat; choose stock long enough for the required height.
Interpreting the result
The calculation omits saw kerf, edge alignment details, fixings and irregular walls. It does not perform structural design or globally optimise cuts. Trial the spacing and check installation instructions before committing to the layout.
